304 accounts for more stainless consumption than any other grade — roughly half the global market. Not because it's exotic, but because it works: 18% chromium for passivation, 8% nickel for austenite stability, good formability, weldability, and corrosion resistance across a thousand routine applications. Jiangsu Ji Lai Da Nickel-Based Alloy Co., Ltd. produces the 304 stainless steel round rod as a forged semi-finished product in diameters from 20 to 350 mm, with the 154 mm × 500 mm size regularly available. The rod is supplied as-forged, rough-turned, or bright-drawn depending on what your downstream process requires.
Shafts and axles. Valve stems. Pump sleeves. Fastener blanks. Gear and sprocket stock. Food processing machine
frames. Architectural handrail cores. The 304 stainless steel round rod is where all of these start — a reliable,
machinable blank that your shop turns into the finished part. Ji lai da ships factory-direct from China, supplier to
distributors and OEMs worldwide. FOB, CIF, DDP terms available. Material test certificates per EN 10204 3.1 included
with every lot. ISO 9001 + 4 additional certifications on the production line.
FAQ
Q1: Why choose 304 over 316 for round rod?
A: Cost. 304 is typically 20–30% cheaper than 316 for the same size. If your environment doesn't involve chlorides
or acids — indoor structural parts, general machine components, food contact with neutral pH — 304 does the job at
lower material cost.
Q2: What surface options do you offer?
A: Three conditions: as-forged (black surface, widest tolerance), rough-turned or peeled (clean metallic surface,
moderate tolerance), and bright-drawn (smooth reflective finish, h9 tolerance). Price increases with each step —
match the condition to how much machining you plan to do.
Q3: Can you cut to length before shipping?
A: Yes. Standard bar length is around 500 mm for our forging size, but we can cut to any length you need. For very
long pieces, we may need to adjust the forging plan — just specify at RFQ stage.
Q4: Is the rod magnetic?
A: 304 is austenitic and essentially non-magnetic in annealed condition. Cold drawing can introduce slight magnetism
from martensite formation at the surface, but it's minimal. If you need zero magnetism, specify annealed after
drawing.
Q5: How quickly can you ship stock sizes?
A: Standard diameters in 304 are often available within 2–3 weeks. Custom sizes or special surface conditions add
forging and processing time — we'll give you a realistic schedule with the quote.
